How To Root Redmi Note 3 Snapdragon With No Ota Update Break Issue

After successfully gained root access through SuperSU, many Redmi Note 3 users were wondering whether they would be able to get OTA update without any issue or they will be not. Well, some of them might have luck while others might not. Many other Redmi Note 3 users, mostly new users, are also still wondering how to easily and safely root their device since many guides shows a method utilizing TWRP whereas flashing custom recovery could be difficult or too advanced for them.

Luckily, one of MIUI Device Team called Raaj52 has managed to come up with simple workaround (and tool) on how to gain native root on Redmi Note 3 Qualcomm Snapdragon that will not break OTA update and this method requires no complicated method to flash TWRP. Using just a lightweight Windows-based tool he developed, gaining root access on RN3 Kenzo becomes very easy.

REQUIREMENTS

  • A Redmi Note 3 Snapdragon (RN3SD) – Not the MTK variant.
  • No custom recovery either TWRP or CWM installed previously. Make sure your RN3SD still has stock Mi Recovery.
  • Bootloader unlocked officially – Read : How to unlock Redmi Note 3 Bootloader.
  • Download the Automatic Root Tool for RN3SD.
  • A Windows based computer either PC or laptop.
  • A USB cable – just use the one comes with your device.
  • Make sure you have proper USB ADB Drivers installed. Otherwise you can download USB ADB Drivers installer and install it first.

STEPS TO ROOT

Step 1 – Extract the Redmi_Note_3_Tool.zip file you have downloaded earlier. You can use either Winzip or Winrar for this task. As a result, you will get a folder namely Root_Folder with many files inside it. To make it easy for you to access it, you can extract the file into your Desktop.

Step 2 – (OPTIONAL : You can skip this step. Use this only if the process failed) You may also need to disable driver signature enforcement in your PC. You can do that by pressing Windows button + i on keyboard to reveal the Settings page. From there you can choose Update & Security >> Recovery >> Advanced startup >> Restart now. Wait a moment for your computer to restart. Next, go to Troubleshoot >> Advanced options >>Startup settings >> Restart. Once your computer restarts, now choose Disable driver signature enforcement which is option number 7. See the video below for more details :

Step 4 – Now you need to reboot your phone into Fastboot mode. First, turn off your phone and reboot by pressing the Volume Down (-) and Power buttons simultaneously until you have seen the Bunny logo fixing Android.
